Also called "street", "hip hop", or "ghetto" lit, urban fiction -- usually by African-American authors -- is emerging as a popular genre. Though controversial, these books often have high appeal to otherwise reluctant readers. Do they belong in high school libraries? What teen titles will appeal to younger readers of adult urban fiction? This presentation will address these and other issues.
